Ninjas Of The Spotlight

Hello again, it’s me Callum Brazzo with another #DiamondzDialogueThis time, we are going to delve deeper into the workforce of Diamondz, more specifically, the people. No, they are not necessarily the same thing. You see, people can do a job but when it is so centrally rooted in your life, it is even more beautiful to see it blossom. When there’s passion behind something, it hits different and that is on full display at Diamondz. From the front-desk frivolity from warm-hearted Diane, to all the staff involved in doing their utmost for children and young adults alike, the commitment shows on the faces and in the classes which take place. But behind the scenes…it’s the same story but a separate page (or pages!) from the story told in the studio. What I mean by this is that it would be easy to interpret ‘dance’ as easy or because it’s community-led, that there is a happy-go-lucky naivety to the efforts Teachers and Students put in. A significant amount of mental and physical energy goes into planning and co-ordinating the weekly choreography lessons in various forms of movement as well as the required discipline for staying on task to ensure deadlines for shows get met (have you seen our latest February 2025 show 'A Night at the Awards' | Diamondz Dance?) People are distractable at the best of times. So much of our world drags you away from what you might be wanting to do and with social media, online searches for venues and show attire can turn into checking Facebook and scrolling on Instagram for cat memes very quickly) Technology is a tool if harnessed but it also keeps productivity at bay if misused. And that’s not even discussing the different sensory onslaught that this world is for many of us, myself included, therefore if you have a particularly floaty brain it can be a nightmare. All of this is before the actual events and shows that many of you reading would hopefully have been to…if not, there is still time! But it really is amazing, having been backstage as a performance poet at Unify Through Creativity, the True Motion piece Flow and most recently Diamondz Inferno, nerves can cause a big stir but every single time, the team at Diamondz pull off the feat without a noticeable hitch. This isn’t meant to completely self-endorsing, just a genuine reflection and dive into some of what happens behind the curtain, the study behind the spectacle, the work behind the play, the people behind the performances. Now, if you can forget that you read this and purely enjoy the lessons, the show….that would be exactly the goal. Oh and as far as the Night At The Awards go (remember that February 2025 show?(check out the details on our Facebook page!) I’d like to give the following award of ‘Ninjas Of The Spotlight,’ for the most effectively silent and not so silent hard work of the Teachers and Students combined. We’d love you to start your journey of dance with us, sign up to become a ninja at Dance Classes | Diamondz School Of Dance | England Question: What is something you think looks ‘easy’ but is actually difficult!
